Product Description
Sterling Silver and Opal Ring size O.
Opal is said to protect the wearer from disease. Until 1817, when Sir Walter Scott published “Ann of Geirstein”, opal was a coveted gemstone identified with hope. In Scott’s book, however, it symbolised misfortune, an association which hurt its popularity. Later, when Queen Victoria took to giving this beautiful gemstone as a wedding gift to her daughters, it made a comeback. Opal is found in Australia, Mexico and Brazil. Opals with black or dark backgrounds are the most expensive. Some white opal is dyed to give it the appearance of black opal.
