School Visits & Teachers Information

EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE

The Creetown Gem Rock Museum is a unique educational resource. The museum houses and displays one of the finest collections of Crystals, Minerals, Fossils and Gemstones, with many world class exhibits on show. We also have a collection of local geological specimens, and maps of the area, a working gem cutting lapidary and gold/silversmith workshop.

GROUP STUDY WORK

Teachers can run their own study sessions in our Professors Study using our original specimens and AV equipment. Or we can give your class a talk based on your current course content, using AV aids and relevant geological specimens to illustrate. The theme and content of the talk will be tailored to the teacher’s class requirements.

TEACHERS RESOURCES

Our Loan Boxes contain a carefully selected range of Geological Specimens, Classroom Material and Teachers Notes to allow study and learning to continue after your visit. We have a selection of Activity Sheets, again customisable to your needs, to be used during your visit or post visit at your request. The Learning section of the website provides further insight into this diverse subject, as well as further resources for follow up assignments etc.

YOUR VISIT

We suggest 2-3 hours in the museum will give you ample time to make the most of our facilities. We can provide Full and Part Catering packages, or alternatively during most months we can provide seating for up to 50 to enjoy their packed lunch. A free pre-visit familiarisation tour of the museum can be booked with us at anytime.
